The time to plant and mālama ʻāina for our future generations is now!
Students from Kaohi Youth MEO summer program visited Keawanui and planted ʻāweoweo, ʻaʻali’i, pili, and ahuʻawa seeds.
These native plants will grow and restore the landscape at Keawanui, helping to make it an ʻāina momona once more!

It’s wonderful to see young people getting hands-on experience planting native species and caring for the ʻāina at Keawanui Fishpond. These efforts help preserve cultural knowledge while building a stronger foundation for food sovereignty and future generations. It reminded me of a related discussion I recently came across on Direwolf about the importance of community involvement and sustainable practices.
